RAJAMATI KUMATI (राजामति कुमति) (Original) Lyrics in English by Seturam Shrestha (सेतुराम श्रेष्ठ): The song “Rajamati Kumati” is an old Newari ballad and said to be the first ever recorded song from Nepal. The writer of the song is unnamed till today but it dates from the early 19th century and is based on a true story. Rajamati Kumati was first recorded on gramophone discs by maestro Seturam Shrestha in Kolkata in 1908. Also, a movie of the same name based on the story of the song was released in the year 1995.
